Grant Description

About 40M people in low- and middle-income countries (LMIC) suffer from epilepsy-related seizures but not all are diagnosed and treated due to the lack of electroencephalogram (EEG) devices and neurologists in these regions.BrainCapture (BC) is developing an EEG-based diagnosis service (BrainCap) for epilepsy and other neurological disorders that fits LMIC needs since it is affordable, uses mobile phone infrastructure and does not need an EEG expert on-site for data capture due to an AI-based Quality Control (QC) algorithm.

Data is analysed by remotely placed neurologists who provide a diagnosis and treatment plan via the BrainCap app/cloud.Our field trials revealed that there is a clinical need for BrainCap.

Now, we will finish the product design, optimize the QC algorithm, and extend clinical validation to multiple sites to convince KOLs in several primary markets. The EIC investment will be key to create EEG market in LMICs, leveraging a significant business opportunity for BC.
