Grant Description

The Public Action for Water, Energy and Environment (a.k.a., Public Action Project) is a USAID-funded five year program, implemented by ECODIT, and intended to foster and support behavior change towards water and energy conservation and improved solid waste management.

Working closely with USAID and its partners (including the ministries of Water and Irrigation, Energy, Environment, and Education), the ECODIT team will (a) put in place state-of-the-art approaches, adapted to Jordan, to induce behavioral changes related to water, energy and waste; (b) move Jordanian society closer to sustainable Green behaviors; and (c) build the adaptive capacity of Jordanian institutions to sustain this behavioral change momentum beyond the life of the project.

In Phase I of the program (November 2009 - July 2010), ECODIT conducted more than a dozen research activities, including a complete review of the formal curriculum textbooks, designed and organized several training workshops on social marketing and research methodology, and signed several Memoranda of Understanding including one MOU with the Childrens Museum of Jordan (CMJ).

As part of Phase II (Design), the ECODIT team will design three communication strategies, to be implemented under Phase III (Implementation) using several methodologies including a multi-million grants program for NGOs and CBOs.
