Grant Description

DPK is supporting the Guatemalan justice sector to improve its capacity to combat impunity of violence and serious crimes.

Specifically, Tt DPK is assisting the Ministerio Publico (MP) to improve investigation and prosecution of homicides and serious crimes; developing effective and efficient information management protocols; carrying out analysis and planning to help departments within the MP identify and achieve their goals; implementing the Law Against Organized Crime and other key legislation; and supporting the expansion of the 24-hour courts, which have demonstrated success in eliminating the excessive delays that existed previously.

Under this program, Tt DPK is also working to support the design and implementation of High Impact Courts; helping to mobilize the justice sector and civil society to reduce and prevent violence; strengthening victims assistance services; supporting increased accountability and oversight within the justice sector; and strengthening justice capacity to combat illegal activities in the region of Peten.
