Grant Description

Support the development of constitutions, laws, and legal systems that are derived through democratic processes and are consistent with international human rights standards.

Ensure that the public participates in the legal process as appropriate, perceives laws as legitimate and worthy of adherence, and respects the authority of law and legal institutions.

Includes efforts to end impunity and enable peaceful transitions to democracy, as well as efforts to harmonize customary or religious law with state-based legal systems.
