Grant Description

This activity seeks to strengthen communication between government and civil society organizations (CSOs) on issues in three technical areas: justice sector reform, human rights and crime prevention.

In order to maximize efficiencies and compliment ongoing efforts, this activity will be implemented in four states where USAID's crime prevention and rule of law activities are most heavily focused.

The activity will help build civil society's capacity to influence public policies through advocacy and oversight; strengthen elected municipal governments' capacity to engage and collaborate with civil society; and enhance communication on these issues at both national and local levels.

Activities will include training to CSOs and state and local officials that promote awareness and increase their ability to engage in informed dialogue on these topics.

USAID will facilitate communication between municipalities in Mexico and other countries in order to share regional experience.
