Grant Description

Super Typhoon Haiyan (known in the Philippines as Yolanda) made landfall on November 8, 2013, killing more than 6,000 people and affecting 16 million more. Most of the public infrastructure across the central Philippine islands was demolished.

The storm destroyed nearly 90% of the homes in Tacloban, the largest city in the affected area with a pre-storm population of 220,000.
