Grant Description

In 2003, Catholic Relief Services (CRS) launched the Food Security for Enhanced Livelihood through Agriculture and Nutritional Activities (FELANA) project.

CRS began 14 Pilot Hearth projects in the Mananjary Diocese in order to measure their impact on malnutrition and to assess their requirements for skilled personnel and financial support. These 14 Pilot Hearth projects reached 74 mother-child pairs. Twenty-seven of the 74 succeeded in gaining at least 1,200 grams during 6 months of observation.

Seven of the 14 Pilot projects achieved success.
