The IMPACT/Bangladesh program supported behavior change and care and support programs of a wide range of community-based organizations, including faith-based organizations, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and groups for people living with HIV and AIDS (PLHA). By 2005, IMPACT/Bangladesh was managing sub-agreements with 18 implementing agencies.
Program priorities included national surveillance system strengthening, behavior change communication to reduce risk and vulnerability to HIV (including condom promotion among high-risk populations), improving management of sexually transmitted infections (STIs), and building capacity of government and NGO partners to plan, implement, and monitor HIV/AIDS interventions.
