Grant Description

This grant to GreenCo Power Services Limited (GreenCo) funds a feasibility study to assess the technical, economic, and financial viability of developing and implementing a 10-25 Megawatts (MW) / 40-100 Megawatt Hours (MWh) Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) pilot project (BESS Pilot Project) in Sesheke District, Zambia and a 400MWh BESS portfolio in the country.

The BESS Pilot Project will be paired with a solar photovoltaic (PV) pilot project in the same region and would be one of Zambia's first utility-scale BESS projects.
