Grant Description

This grant funds a feasibility study to assess the technical, financial, and economic viability of a solar photovoltaic (PV) plant of up to 100 megawatts (MW), to be developed in increments of 20-40 MW, and an associated energy storage facility of up to 50 MW of capacity to be located on the property of the Nacala International Airport in Nampula Province in northeastern Mozambique (Project).

The grantee is WHN Solar, S.A. and the U.S. firm HDR International, Inc. will be undertaking the feasibility study. This will be Mozambique's second utility-scale solar power plant and its first at an airport.
