Grant Description

This grant funds a feasibility study for Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN), a state-owned Indonesian utility, to assess the technical and economic viability of converting diesel-based generation in five target locations in eastern Indonesia to renewable energy (RE) based mini grids.

The study will also develop a roadmap and replication strategy to replace up to 499 Megawatt (MW) of small diesel generation with RE mini grids in approximately one quarter of the frontier, outermost and least developed (Terluar, Terpencil, Tertinggal (3T)) regions of Indonesia.

The Feasibility Study (FS) would help PLN address growing electricity demand and reduce reliance on fossil fuel-based power generation.
