Grant Description

USTDA is providing $150,000 for development of a Briefing Book in support of the Sub-Saharan Africa ("SSA") Information and Communications Technology ("ICT") Conference. The Conference highlights ICT sector opportunities and policy developments in a number of countries in the region.

The Conference also promotes development of infrastructure, technology transfer and market-oriented reforms in the communications and IT sector. Topics include deregulation, privatization, connectivity, public-sector reforms, security, and capacity building. The event enables delegates from SSA to interact with and discuss project ideas with potential U.S. suppliers.

The Conference took place in San Francisco in October 2006.
