Grant Description

Chinese Government pledges $60 million loan for agricultural development In January 2007, Li Zhaoxing, China’s foreign minister, traveled to Africa, visiting Chad, Benin, Mozambique, the Central African Republic, Equatorial Guinea and Eritrea, none of which maintain diplomatic relations with Taiwan.

During this trip, Zhaoxing signed an agreement with the Government of Equatorial Guinea in Malabo to provide a US$60 million loan for agricultural development purposes.

The purpose of the loan is to improve access to develop an efficient, safe, substantial, and environmentally sound transport system in order to compete in the global market economy.
