Grant Description

In 2016, the Chinese Government pledged to contribute $200 million to the United Nations over a ten year period.

The United Nations Peace and Development Trust Fund (UNPDF) was established to channel these earmarked funds to specific projects in coordination with the UN.

The UNPDF is divided into two sub-funds: The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development Sub-Fund and The Secretary-General's Peace and Security Sub-Fund.

Approved in 2019 by the UNPDF, USD $1,724,301 was allocated from the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development Sub-Fund to establish the Global Policy Dialogue Series.

The initiative brings together UN leaders, Member States, academia, NGOs, and other stakeholders to exchange views, promote understanding, and raise awareness of the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The project partners with high-profile international forums such as the African Union, European Commission, World Economic Forum, and Boao Forum for Asia to expand policy dialogue on the SDGs and integrate them into spaces where they previously received limited attention.

The project is co-implemented with UNDESA in collaboration with the Boao Forum for Asia, the World Economic Forum, the African Union Commission, and the European Commission. Its scheduled duration is from February 2020 to January 2025.
