Grant Description

On January 12, 2022, the China's Ministry of Agriculture and the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) signed an agreement to establish Phase III of the FAO-China South-South Cooperation Trust Fund.

China contributed $30 million USD for Phase I in 2009 (see Record ID #87769), $50 million USD for Phase II in 2015 (see Record ID #87779), and $50 million for Phase III in 2022 (see Record ID #108921).

The purpose of this special fund was to improve agricultural productivity in the Global South by providing Chinese experts for technical assistance, training, and knowledge exchange. This project has a strong focus on Africa but also included countries in Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East.
