Grant Description
On July 26, 2023, the Chinese Government awarded Chinese Government Scholarships (中国政府奖学金) to 10 Gambian students during a ceremony held at the Chinese Embassy in Banjul.
Chinese Ambassador Liu Jin presided over the event and presented official admission letters from Chinese universities to the scholarship recipients.
Attendees included the Gambian Minister of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology, Professor Pierre Gomez, and the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Yusupha Touray.
During the event, Ambassador Liu emphasized education as a key pillar of China–Gambia cooperation and encouraged students to study diligently and serve as ambassadors of friendship between the two countries.
