Grant Description

In 2016, the Chinese Government pledged to contribute USD $200 million to the United Nations over a ten year period.

The United Nations Peace and Development Trust Fund (UNPDF) was established to channel these earmarked funds to specific projects in coordination with the UN.

The UNPDF is divided into two sub-funds: The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development Sub-Fund and The Secretary-General's Peace and Security Sub-Fund.

Approved in 2020 and implemented between October 2021 and October 2023, USD $999,647 was allocated from the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development Sub-Fund to promote sustainable investment in Serbia.

The SDG Acceleration framework (2020 - 2024) between UNDP and the Government of Serbia will provide the foundation for the implementation of the Sustainable Investment Promotion (SIP) program in Serbia.

The UNDP provided policy advisory services to the FDI Unit to improve the investment climate and capacity development of Serbian government entities for SDG monitoring and implementation.

As a result of the initiative, the government of Serbia committed USD $1,962,916 of government investments spanning from 2023 to 2024.

The project also included 2 knowledge exchange visits in Belgrade, Serbia, and Xiamen, China to share information, best practices, and lessons learned.
