On June 28, 2023, the Chinese Government donated police equipment and storage facilities valued at SBD 5.5 million to the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF).
The donation included night-vision devices, drones, vehicle search mirrors, a wireless signal jammer, protective gear, and two police vehicles to strengthen the RSIPF’s Close Personal Protection (CPP) capability.
The handover also included a newly designated police storage facility at Rove Police Headquarters for storing tactical equipment.
The handover ceremony was attended by Chinese Ambassador Li Ming, Minister of Police Anthony Veke, RSIPF Commissioner Mostyn Mangau, and Commissioner Zhao Jinyong of the China Police Liaison Team (CPLT).
The donation forms part of the broader SI–PRC Police Cooperation Agreement, implemented by China’s Ministry of Public Security, which has also provided RSIPF with tactical training and ongoing advisory support.
The handover ceremony and equipment storage facility are located at Rove Police Headquarters in Honiara, Solomon Islands.
