MOFCOM provides RMB 147.26 million grant for Oudomxay Vocational Skills Development Center Construction Project

In 2023, China's Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) issued an RMB 147.26 million grant to the Government of Laos for the Oudomxay Vocational Skills Development Center Construction Project.

The purpose of the project is to construct vocational skill development center in Oudomxay Province in order build a skilled workforce and meet the job market in Laos and the wider region. The center is expected provide intermediate level training and be equipped with practical training materials.

It will seek to train teachers, build teaching partnerships, and select talented students for exchange programmes in China.

The center is expected to consist of classrooms and practical training facilities, an office building, a cafeteria, two student dormitories, and a teachers’ dormitory. There also be a sports field, football pitch, basketball court, and other facilities. Upon completion, the center is expected to train 200-300 people per year.

Hebei Construction Group International Engineering Co., Ltd. is the contractor responsible for project implementation.

The project’s groundbreaking ceremony took place on December 26, 2023 and it was originally scheduled for completion within 18 months (June 26, 2025).
