On Feb 6, 2023, a 7.7-magnitude earthquake and a 7.6-magnitude earthquake hit Turkey, causing heavy casualties and financial losses. In response to the earthquake, Chinese Ministry of Emergency Management sent a 82-member rescue team to Turkey. The team arrived in the southern Turkish city of Adana on February 8.
It carried 20 tons of rescue supplies and equipment, including search and rescue, communications, and medical supplies, as well as four search and rescue dogs. On Feb 17, the team completed its two-week mission and returned to China.
During their tenure, they successfully rescued six people and found another 11 victims by searching a total of 87 buildings in an area of over 700,000 square meters.
