On May 27, 2023, the Chinese Embassy in Equatorial Guinea, in coordination with the 32nd Chinese Medical Team, donated a wide range of supplies to the Maria Mbasogo Ngwe Boarding School in Riaba, South Bioko Province, as part of the "China–Africa Hand in Hand to Warm Children’s Hearts" initiative.
The donations included medicine kits, books, audiovisual materials, sports equipment, daily-use items, and over 200 personal “love bags” filled with health supplies, stationery, and food for the orphans.
The donations were formally presented during a free medical outreach event attended by over 200 students and teachers (captured in Record ID#106122). The monetary value of the donations is unknown.
The “China–Africa Hand in Hand to Warm Children’s Hearts” initiative is co-sponsored by Professor Peng Liyuan, wife of Chinese President Xi Jinping, and the Organization of African First Ladies for Development (OAFLAD). It aims to improve the health and well-being of orphans across Africa.
