Grant Description
On June 17th, 2023, medical staff from Yunnan Fuwai Cardiovascular Hospital were sent to Laos to conduct congenital heart disease screenings and treatment in the Udomxay and Luang Prabang provinces.
The 13-person team worked with other medical staff from Laos Mahosot General Hospital and Laos Shenglong International Hospital. Over the course of three days, 432 children were seen by the team in a mobile interventional operation vehicle.
Along with providing screenings, the team also performed ultrasound-guided percutaneous interventional treatment on 3 children with congenital heart diseases.
Additionally, 16 children with congenital heart diseases went sent to receive free treatment at Fuwai Yunnan Cardiovascular Hospital. The first 5 children arrived in Yunnan on November 27th and the 11 remaining children arrived in late-December.
The medical team was sent to Laos with the assistance of the China Association for Promoting International Exchanges of Non-Governmental Organizations of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee and the China Charity Federation.
