Grant Description

On September 6, 2023, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment of the People’s Republic of China signed an MoU with Pakistan entitled "‘Provision of Goods Under South-South Cooperation for Addressing Climate Change." Under the MoU, China would support Pakistan through the provision of 5,000 sets of Solar Home Systems; a set of Integrated Meteorological Observation Stations; and a set of Integrated Cloud-based Early Warning Systems.

In addition, China would offer capacity-building programmes for the officials of the Government of Pakistan (recorded in #107294).

On April 16, 2024, the 5,000 sets of Solar Home Systems were delivered by Lattice Technology Co., Ltd of China Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection Group (CECEP) (captured in record ID#109050).

On November 30, 2024, 25 meteorological early warning detectors provided under the MOU arrived in Pakistan assisted by the Institute of Electrical Engineering of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (captured in #107884).

The MoU would complement Pakistan’s efforts to promote renewable energy and also enhance its disaster management capabilities, especially in the areas of early warning, forecasting, monitoring and disaster preparedness response systems.
