Grant Description

On August 24, 2023, the Chinese Embassy in Sierra Leone held a farewell reception for the Chinese scholarship awardees.

In addition to the 155 awardees, the Chinese Ambassador to Sierra Leone, the Minister of Technical and Higher Education, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Sierra Leone were in attendance.

Among the 155 award recipients, 127 received degree program scholarships funded by the Chinese Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) (captured in Record ID #107046) and 28 received the Chinese Government Scholarship (captured in this Record). Since 1971, China has provided more than 1,000 scholarships to Sierra Leonean students.
