Grant Description
On May 8, 2023, Chinese SOE Zhenhua Oil Co., Ltd signed a protocol commiting USD 2.1 million for the construction of Demonstration Primary School Project in Baghdad, Iraq.
The school is located on the banks of the Diyala River and covers an area of about 10,000 square meters and includes 18 classrooms, a multi-purpose hall, a library, an office building, a laboratory, a small football field, a parking lot, and supporting features such as water supply and drainage, power supply, and greenery.
Electronics including computers were also supplied. The school is intended to cater to 800 students. On May 11, 2023, the foundation stone of the project was laid in the groundbreaking ceremony. The construction period was projected to take 1-year. The school was inaugurated on September 3rd, 2024. Zhenhua Oil maintains multiple oil exploration and productions sites in Iraq.
