Grant Description

On June 1, 2023, the 35th Chinese medical team stationed in Mauritania provided free medical services to orphans residing at the Naim Child Protection and Social Integration Center in Nouakchott.

This initiative was conducted under the "China-Africa Hand in Hand to Warm Children's Hearts" campaign, which is jointly sponsored by Professor Peng Liyuan, the First Lady of China, and the Organization of African First Ladies for Development (OAFLAD).

The medical team offered general consultations, physical exams, surgical evaluations, and ophthalmological care to children living at the orphanage.

This campaign marked International Children's Day and reinforced the long-standing medical cooperation between China and Mauritania, which dates back to 1968.

More than 100 people participated in the event, including the Counselor of the Chinese Embassy, Xi Wei, and local government officials.

The Chinese medical team’s participation demonstrates China’s continued support for improving public health and child welfare in Mauritania through long-term technical cooperation.
