On or about January 12, 2023, the China International Development Cooperation Agency committed a donation of 171 pieces of medical equipment, valued at approximately $10 million, under the Medical Equipment for Hospitals and Specialized and Forensic Institutions in Lima project.
The supplies were scheduled to arrive in Peru on February 8, 2023, and the project was to be implemented with the help of the Peruvian Agency for International Cooperation (APCI).
The equipment was designated for six hospitals, four health institutes, and the Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences, a forensic medicine institute belonging to the Ministry of Health and the Public Prosecutor's Office.
The six hospitals were the Arzobispo Loayza Hospital, the Dos de Mayo Hospital, the San Bartolomé National Teaching Hospital, the José Agurto Tello de Chosica Hospital, the María Auxiliadora Hospital, and the Hipólito Unanue Hospital.
The four health institutes were the Niño de San Borja Health Institute, the Niño de Breña Health Institute, the National Maternal and Perinatal Health Institute, and the National Institute of Neurological Sciences.
The equipment includes medical refrigerators, medical freezers, medical cryopreservation boxes, portable digital color Doppler ultrasound scanners, mobile surgical lights, electro-hydraulic operating tables, emergency ventilators, ventilators of different sizes, anesthesia machines, as well as patient monitors of different screen sizes.
