Grant Description

In March 2022, China’s Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) provided a grant worth RMB 112,230,000 to the government of Niger for the Niamey General Reference Hospital Road Construction Project.

The Government of Niger agreed to provide counterpart funding for the project’s preparatory works as well as compensation to project-affected persons (PAPs).

The purpose of the project is to construct a 3.92 km connecting road from the Niamey General Referral Hospital to Timimoune Boulevard, roads surrounding the hospital, as well as drainage, lighting and other facilities. The project site is located on the north side of the city center of Niamey. China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC) is the contractor responsible for project implementation.

A project commencement ceremony took place on March 20, 2023. It was attended by Niger’s Minister of Equipment, Mr. Gado Sabo Moctar, in the presence of Niger’s Minister in Charge of Health, Dr. Illiassou Mainassara, and the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Niger, Mr. Jiang Feng. The project was originally expected to reach completion within 18 months.
