Grant Description

On March 21, 2023, the donation ceremony for the first batch of China's emergency food aid to Burundi was held in Bujumbura. The aid comes after soaring food prices and poor harvests. The monetary value of the rice donation is unknown. There were 910 tons of rice in total. The first batch, received in Bujumbura on the day of the ceremony, consisted of 591.5 tons.

The remaining 318.5 tons were in Dar es Salam at the time of the ceremony and were to be delivered later.

The aid was delivered in 50-kilogram sacks marked "China Aid." The batch of rice was received by the Burundian Ministry of National Solidarity, Social Affairs, Human Rights, and Gender.
