Grant Description

On June 8, the second donation of the "China and Africa join hands to warm children's hearts—love for children in the Central African Republic" (中非携手暖童心——献给中非共和国儿童的爱) Project occurred at Turbulence High School (see Staff Comments) in the capital, Bangui. The donation to the school included desks, chairs, and stationery, but the exact monetary value is unknown.

The event was jointly hosted by the first lady of the Central African Republic, Tina Marguerite Touadéra, and Chinese Ambassador Li Qinfeng.

Among the nearly 200 people who attended the event were representatives of the Central African Ministry of National Education, the mayor of the seventh district of Bangui, members of the Central African parliament, and diplomats from the Chinese Embassy.

The 19th Chinese medical team were also in attendance and provided the children with free medical treatment during the event. Record ID #103715 captures the first donation under this project.

It is likely that the school to which the donation was given is not named 'Turbulence High School'. This name rather, is derived from the Chinese translation of 湍流中学. While not certain, the school in question could be Lycée des Rapides high school, which having a related name and being located in the 7th district of Bangui aligns with Source ID #204466.
President Faustin-Archange Touadéra has two wives-- Brigitte Touadéra and Marguerite 'Tina' Touadéra. Thus, Central African Republic has two first ladies.
