Chinese Embassy in Madagascar donated supplies to children and families in need in Madagascar as part of 'Warm Children's Hearts' program

On May 31, 2023, the Chinese Ambassador to Madagascar, as well as Madagascar's Minister of Population, Social Protection, and Promotion of Women (MPPSPF), gave out supplies to children and families in need. The ambassador handed out schoolbags filled with school supplies, soap, candy, clothes, and toys to Malagasy children.

The Embassy also donated rice, oil, mattresses, disinfectants, and other necessities. The monetary value of the products is unknown.

According to media reports, the Chinese medical team in Madagascar gave free consultations to women and children in the welfare institutes. 310 households and 295 children received donations during the event. The donations were carried out at the SEBA center in Isotry, a welfare institution in Antananarivo.

This donation was a part of Children's Day and the "Warm Children's Hearts" program ("Warm Children's Hearts, a China-Africa joint action"), launched by China's First Lady, Peng Liyuan and the Organization of the First Ladies of Africa for Development (OPDAD/OAFLAD).

Warm Children's Hearts is a program launched by OPDAD with the support of China's Peng Liyuan, the First Lady of China, launched ahead of Children's Day on June 1.

It is meant as a medical campaign involving embassies and medical teams visiting orphanages and other institutions to provide medical care and donate care packages.

According to media reports, in 2023 the program involved events in Madagascar, Namibia, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Cameroon, Egypt, Mauritius, Equatorial Guinea, Botswana, Guinea-Bissau, Ethiopia, and Algeria.
