On November 24, 2022, the Chinese Embassy participated in the opening ceremony of the largest Maldives Table Tennis Hall in Malé with the Maldives Government.
The newly inaugurated facility holds 12 table tennis tables in addition to other equipment donated by the Chinese government, contributing to the Maldivian government's broader initiative to enhance sports infrastructure and promote athletic activities across the country.
The opening ceremony was attended by Chinese Ambassador Wang Lixin, Maldivian President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, Vice President Faisal Naseem, and Minister of Youth and Sports Ahmed Mahloof. The Chinese government previously contributed to the development and promotion of table tennis in the Maldives.
In 2019, CMEC and the Chinese government funded the renovation of a table tennis facility (see Record ID#72521 and #72523 for additional details).
1. This project differs from the renovation of a different table tennis hall funded by CMEC in 2019 (see Project ID #72521).
