Grant Description
On May 20, 2023, the groundbreaking ceremony of an additional facility to the phase one of the China Agricultural Technical Cooperation Center for Suriname was held in Saramacca, Suriname.
Hunan Yushi Agricultural Service Co., Ltd. will work with the Suriname-China Investment Coordination Committee to implement the technical assistance project.
Surinamese President Chan Santokhi spoke about the implementation of this project addressing prominent international food security issues and achieving the common goal of the Caribbean Community leaders in reducing food imports by 25% by 2025.
The project is on 4.93 hectares and will have laboratories, cold storage, warehouses, reservoirs, edible bacteria production workshops and cultivation greenhouses, fruit and vegetable breeding and cultivation greenhouses, field projects, etc. The timeline is expected to be 6 months.
