Grant Description

On September 28, 2023, eight Northern Caribbean University (NCU) students were presented with the Chinese Ambassador’s Scholarship by the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China.

Since 2019, the Chinese Embassy in Jamaica has cooperated with Northern Caribbean University in launching the "Chinese Ambassador Scholarship" project; 2023 was the first year in which 8 students were awarded a scholarship instead of 5, and the first year in which all recipients were female. The previous year's awards of the same scholarship are recorded at Record ID#101688.

📋 Staff Comments

1. The English name of this scholarship is the Chinese Ambassador Scholarship. The Chinese name is '中国大使奖学金'2. The financial amount was estimated by multiplying JMD 200,000 (the amount awarded per student in 2022 according to source ID #195340) by 8. This may be inaccurate if the amount of money granted per student increased between 2022 and 2023.
