Grant Description

On June 2, 2022, the Chinese Ambassador to Grenada, Wei Hongtian, visited the Vole Playing Field in St. David Parish, Grenada to inspect the Small Cricket Field Lighting Project.

The project involved the reconstruction of the lighting system at Vole Playing Field, which had fallen into disrepair, and was intended to promote sports and community development.

The project was funded by the Chinese Government and constructed by the Chinese Embassy in collaboration with the local community.

Then, on August 30, 2022, a handover and lighting ceremony was held for the completed Small Cricket Field Lighting Project at Vole Playing Field.

The ceremony was attended by various Grenadian officials, including Prime Minister and Minister of Disaster Management Dickon Mitchell, Foreign Minister Joseph Andall, Minister of Infrastructure Denis Cornwall, and Minister of Agriculture Adrian Thomas, as well as Ambassador Wei, and approximately 200 residents of St.

David Parish, Grenada.

Ambassador Wei also handed over a check worth USD 50,000 to Minister of Disaster Management Mitchell (captured in Record ID#103479).

The donation was intended to help the Grenada National Disaster Management Agency (NaDMA) bolster its disaster resilience and mitigation mechanisms following severe weather in the country.
