On May 5, 2022, the Chinese Embassy in Mauritania donated tuk-tuk cars and cargo tricycles to the Association Sauvetage du Milieu Environnemental (ASME) or Environment Rescue Association to support Mauritanian NGOs' environmental protection work. Chinese Ambassador Li Baijun and Mrs.
Zahra Abdallahi, President of ASME, presided over the ceremony and exchanged views on strengthening cooperation among environmental protection NGOs and promoting friendship between the Chinese and Mauritanian peoples. The monetary value of this donation is unknown.
1. Recipient NGO was called 毛塔环境救援协会 in Chinese, Association Sauvetage du Milieu Environnemental (ASME) in French, and إغاثة الوسط البيئي in Arabic, translation tends to mess up the English (known both as 'Mauritania Environmental Rescue Association' and 'Mauritania Environmental Relief Association').
