Grant Description

Project Summary Abstract/2021 Summer?s Way Rhabdomyosarcoma Workshop Rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS) is a rare childhood cancer associated with a high mortality rate. Treatment options are limited, with no substantial breakthrough in over 30-years.

The Summer?s Way Foundation has taken the lead in coalescing the RMS community through these unique and diverse workshops.

They have become the premiere venue towards advancing our understanding of the biology of this tumor, developing targeted therapy, and creating collaborative research groups. with a diversity of scientist/clinicians both international and within the United States through gender, ethnicity, race, and leadership while capturing researchers at various stages in their career.

Families and patients impacted by RMS as well as foundations supporting RMS are an integral part of the workshop and 2021 will add the pharmaceutical industry to our table as stakeholders in our community.

Our two day interactive format will feature topics on translational basic science, pre-clinical modeling, clinical trials, immunotherapy, emerging technologies with a unique family advocacy session.

This novel workshop model has become the RMS community?s pathway towards finally achieving significant therapeutic advances, in what has been a devastating and neglected childhood cancer.
