On August 30, 2022, an opening ceremony of a mushroom cultivation training project was held and attended by Chinese ambassador to Rwanda, Wang Xuekun, and the Director General of Rwanda Agriculture and Animal Resources Development Board (RAB), Patrick Karangwa. The project was organized by both the Chinese Embassy in Rwanda and RAB.
It consisted of a class in which agricultural experts from China taught Rwandan farmers about economically-beneficial methods to cultivate button mushrooms using Juncao technology. Moreover, there were a total of 50 Rwandan participants.
The project is said to be a result of Xi Jinping's Global Development Initiative and the 8th Ministerial Conference of the Forum on China-African Cooperation (FOCAC) in Rwanda, which took place from November 29 to 30, 2021.
Furthermore, this training course likely took place in the China-Rwanda Agriculture Technology Demonstration Centre (C-RATDC) (See Record ID#16801).
