On November 3, 2022, the Chinese Government and the Government of Tanzania signed a debt forgiveness agreement.

China’s Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) agreed to cancel approximately $13.5 million (TZS 31.4 billion) of the Government of Tanzania’s outstanding debt obligations.
