UK-based video streaming SME TwistedMirror is led by a project team of Erol Mustafov (project lead), Atila Madakbas (technical lead), Kadir Ozgur (full stack developer) and Ediz Alatli (data scientist).
The operational difficulties in content prominence across streaming platforms are worsened by integration problems, complex layers of intermediation and inadequate audience data, negatively affecting content providers' reach and distribution, especially with international audiences. With annual content distribution costs on platforms being around £20K per channel and over 50 platforms needed to achieve optimal reach, this leads to exorbitant licensing, platform and royalty costs, constituting a barrier to entry without guaranteed revenue and effective performance data analytics.
This heightens the financial pressure that platforms, publishers and OEMs face, making market entry more difficult for publishers and intensifying competition between OEMs. This could lead to a fragmented streaming market over time, forcing media companies to cut costs and restricting the UK media sector's globalisation attempts.
TwistedMirror is developing an AI solution that boosts content publishing efficiency. It combines user activity, device and platform data sets and speeds up contract-to-distribution times. TwistedMirror's AI software can cut market entry time and distribution costs by 90%, boosting revenue by 50% and lowering viewer churn by up to 30% for content publishers.
