Unspecified Chinese bank pledges financing to clean water pump from the Kempir-Abad reservoir to Fergana in Uzbekistan In September 2023, the Fergana Regional Government announced that a preliminary agreement had been reached with unspecified Chinese banks to fund a water pipeline from the Kampir-Obod reservoir (also transliterated as Kempirabad or Kempir-Abad reservoir, also known as the Andijan reservoir) to Fergana.
Sinomach was reportedly selected as the contractor for the project.
The purpose of the project would be to pump clean drinking water from the Kempir-Abad dam on the Uzbek-Kyrgyz border to Fergana, over a distance of over 120 kilometers.
