Algeka have successfully filed a UK patent for a genealogical (family history) database storage solution, the AGDS. This uniquely presents family history data and the storage structure in a format, as stored on a device or medium, that is clearly understandable and visible to a human being, and can be navigated intuitively using a normal file browser on any operating system.
This creates great opportunities for sharing with wider family, and communities, and for enhancing digital literacy among the elderly and a wide range of society.
The project being funded is to code the AGDS and develop a web application (a minimum viable product) to greatly ease the creation and manipulation of AGDS family history database archives, and to demonstrate its capabilities to potential investors and partners to take development forward to full commercialisation. The AGDS also has furher potential as a genealogical database exchange format.
It also potentially could be linked to genetic and healthcare data, and could also be used, for example, in horse or other animal breeding..
