CeraBEV - Ceramics for BEVs

The global drive towards a zero-emission transport sector is increasing the demand for Electric vehicles. However, this demand is being tempered by the phenomenon known as range anxiety. As the total vehicle weight has a major impact on range a weight optimised EV battery pack would be really beneficial.

The CeraBEV project will develop proprietary ceramic coatings, that when applied to lightweight battery enclosures, aluminium or plastic composite address the significant thermal and electrical insulation challenges of battery enclosures for EV's that impact both vehicle safety, and efficiency. These coatings will have both dielectric and flameproof capabilities.
