AI Alpha Omega

IO MEDIA GROUP LTD together with INNOVATE UK have announced a joint initiative to revolutionize the efficiency and accuracy of UK and global newsrooms. Their Alpha Omega Project will develop iOMedia's revolutionary LNS Cloud 9 news room system, which has evolved with previous Innovate UK assistance, using cutting-edge AI technology, for seamless integration into existing newsroom workflows.

The project, awarded under Innovate UK's SMART Grant programme, is scheduled to commence on August 5, 2024, with a duration of 8 months. It will focus on addressing both the technological and cultural barriers currently limiting AI adoption in journalism.

Failure to adopt AI in newsrooms, to eradicate repetitive tasks and workflows, is diverting investigative resources, causing an increase in misinformation and reducing funding for deeper factual reporting This is leading to higher costs than necessary and limiting access to quality journalism. This damages democracy and society by fragmenting and polarising the media.

The project title Alpha Omega AI Assist denotes reliable, human initiation and drafting of each story project from the start (Alpha) and then further human supervision at the conclusion of the story project (Omega) to ensure the AI Assist process has faithfully reproduced the original, human initiated script without hallucinations or deviation.

This one-of-a-kind cloud-based system for managing newsrooms will include AI-based workflow management, ensuring that the usual process for creating and publishing news is maintained without causing major disruptions to the newsrooms culture.

AI technology will enhance iOMedia's journalistic research capabilities, improving accuracy. Versioning for the target audience will allow for increase output, while the effectiveness of each journalist increases.

Versioning will include not only targeting audiences for linear and non linear publications such as streaming, WhatsApp X, Facebook, YouTube etc but also versioning into other languages, all within a controlled AI Assist environment. Visit: www.livesystems.io/alphaomega
