Grant Description

Crafting Stillness Through Design innovates at the convergence of design and psychoneuroimmunology (PNI), visualising the PNI complex to empower individuals in managing their long-term health through short-term management of daily stress and inflammation. The concept '_stillness_' in this context is the catalysing actor in this transformative process.

Engaging audiences via events, workshops, and focus groups, the initiative pioneers a methodology for seamlessly integrating stillness into design, aspiring to develop a licensable toolkit, system and artefact. These will equip designers to seamlessly integrate stillness into their creations while empowering individuals to manage their well-being effectively.

Project mentor is Valeria Mondelli, a distinguished Clinical Professor of Psychoneuroimmunology at King's College London and Consultant Psychiatrist at King's College Hospital, known for her groundbreaking research on the immune system's role in psychiatric disorders. Led by Christa Leask, Global Innovation Designer, specialising in the interplay between mind and body dynamics.

This initiative not only promises immediate benefits but also lays the groundwork for robust research and development, with commercialisation envisioned within a year.
