Grant Description

As an ageing raver with diagnoses of ADHD, autism and PTSD, Disco Neurotico CEO Byron Vincent spent the 90s reaching for the lasers and having panic attacks in the UK's club and festival scene.

Neurodivergent individuals like Byron find live events exciting, but often face prohibitive realities. Crowded, claustrophobic spaces with few escape routes contribute to panic and sensory overwhelm. Stressful navigation and fraught interactions can mar nights out.

In England, 6 out of 100 people are diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder weekly, and over 8 million people in the UK experience anxiety disorders, while 90% of UK office workers identify as neurodivergent, reflected in the 26.2 billion views for \#adhd on TikTok. These are not niche concerns, and they require fresh approaches.

Drawing on years of research and collaboration with academics and experts, We aim to address the accessibility gap for neurodivergent and anxiety-sensitive individuals in the arts and culture sector. Our predominantly neurodivergent team organizes accessible events showcasing neurodivergent talent. We also provide support, advice and training to the creative industries, empowering venues, organizations and businesses to enhance their accessibility efforts.

Through these initiatives, we strive to create a more inclusive, supportive and enjoyable environment for all.
