Grant Description

The proposed “VHIO International postDoctoral programme for translAtional research” (VIDA) aims at enabling outstanding junior scientists of all nationalities to develop a competitive research project at VHIO, an international reference center for personalized medicine in oncology that thanks to its pioneering model of multidisciplinary and translational research is among the leading comprehensive cancer centers in Europe.VIDA aims to nurture excellent postdoctoral fellows to advance research, personalised medicine in oncology and patient health care in Europe.

Following a fair, merit-based and inclusive recruitment process, the programme will hire 12 postdoctoral researchers to carry out a research project that will benefit from a stimulating and creative environment, career development and mentoring schemes, and access to high-end technologies and facilities.

Importantly, they will benefit from a tailored advanced training programme on the latest technologies, open science, gender and innovation, and from a specific mentoring scheme, with the opportunity to build valuable national and international networks with different actors in academia, hospitals, industry, editors and universities.

VIDA counts on the support and collaboration of 15 associated partner organisations.

The trained fellows will be equipped with skills and knowledge to tackle relevant clinical and research questions, and ultimately pursue new approaches to diagnose and treat oncology diseases.

Overall, the VIDA Programme will provide fellows skills and competences for developing a successful career in both the academic and non-academic sector and VHIO is a unique institute to bring them the possibility of contributing to improve prevention, early diagnosis, monitoring and treatment of cancer patients; key intervention areas of the Horizon Europe Mission on Cancer.
