Grant Description

The ARISE2 program will train 50 postdoctoral fellows for roles as research infrastructure (RI) scientistshighly skilled and much-needed scientific experts responsible for developing, providing, and managing scientific services in the life sciences.

Europe has made significant investments in RI development, necessitating dedicated programs that will produce qualified experts to drive these advancements.Building upon the success of the MCSA-supported ARISE program, ARISE2 continues its mission to train researchers for RI roles.

Selected fellows will develop novel technologies and methods that enable faster, more precise analyses across multiple life sciences fields, accelerating our understanding of life from molecules to ecosystems.

As life sciences RIs are generating large volumes of data, we are introducing data science and AI as a new focus in ARISE2.

Fellows will be challenged to simplify, and ideally automate, FAIR data management for the benefit of users, ultimately leading to greater FAIRification and improved data integration for European researchers.

They will be supported by their supervisors and advisors from EMBL and 17 ARISE2-associated partners (9 non-academic), who engage in collaborative projects, hosting inter-sectoral and inter-disciplinary secondments or participating as trainers, thereby increasing competencies, infrastructure, supervision and exchange.

The implementing partner will lead ARISE2 training and the development of further partnerships.

In addition to training through research, fellows will benefit from a unique training portfolio to acquire RI professional competencies, including data science and AI, scientific and transferable skills and opportunities to foster professional networks.

ARISE2 will generate open and micro-credential-ready training materials, facilitating the expansion of similar RI training programme across Europe and standardising this new career path in research.
