Acoustic guitars made from tone-woods are susceptible to humidity and temperature changes which cause tuning and playability issues and, in the worst case, can seriously damage the guitar. This is a particular problem for touring guitarists.
Tone-woods are becoming rarer, more expensive and some, like some Rosewoods, Cocobolo and Bubinga, are now protected by CITES regulations which control the use and import/export of rare species. Whilst some of the range of composite guitars available on the market produce an acceptable sound of their own, none faithfully reproduce the sound of a wooden guitar which is generally preferred by musicians.
This project will apply and leverage state-of-the-art composite manufacturing techniques and the science of acoustics together with our own innovations to develop a guitar built from sustainable materials that sounds indistinguishable from a wooden acoustic guitar.
The application of professional industrial/aesthetic design will ensure that the guitar will be attractive to the eye as well as strong, light, efficient and responsive, creating a masterful-sounding instrument suitable for touring artists and amateur players alike in any climate.
