The "Maternal and Child Health Training Course on Reducing Infant, Child and Maternal Mortality Rates in African Countries" was sponsored by the Chinese Ministry of Commerce and hosted by the National Health Commission International Exchange and Cooperation Center in Burundi, through a mixture of online and offline courses.
The opening ceremony was held on August 16th, 2022 (online) This training course fully integrated the resources of foreign aid medical teams and previous training courses, and invited a total of 82 trainees from Mauritius, Kenya, Somalia, Chad, Malawi, Burundi, Guinea-Bissau and other African countries.
More than 90 medical staff from the Grand Prince Hospital of Bujumbura, Mubanda Hospital and Gitega Hospital of Burundi participated.
The training class lecturer team relied on the resources of the South-South Cooperation "Belt and Road" Maternal and Child Health Cooperation Demonstration Training Base project to form an interdisciplinary team composed of 24 project experts and base teachers, from the Maternal and Child Health Department of the National Health Commission, Health Development Research center, Fudan University, Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, Gansu Maternal and Child Health Hospital, Hunan Children's Hospital, Guangzhou Women and Children's Medical Center, and other professional institutions.
The training course lasted for 21 days and on September 5th, 2020, Xiao Guofeng, Counselor of the Economic and Commercial Office of the Chinese Embassy in Burundi, went to Gitega Province to participate in the closing ceremony
